Gikuyu musician Muigai Wa Njoroge lashed out at his dead friend who committed suicide while attending his burial in Kimende, Kiambu County on Thursday February 17th.
Muigai Wa Njoroge’s late friend was trader in Nakuru town. He reportedly took his own life because of financial constraints.
The Vernacular singer took to social media and shared videos of himself walking out of his late friend’s funeral as he was weeping and condemning him for taking his own life.
“Ti ùhoro hurùka thayù mùrata wakwa. Na tondù ninjuī niùranjigua ùmenye nìùrahitirie ni kwiita. Kaba ùngiranjariire kana waririe mùndù ùngi. Niùratùhitiirie tùri aingi! [It is well. Rest well my friend. And since I know you can hear me, I would like you to realise you made a grave error in choosing to take your own life. You’d rather have reached out to me or to another person. You’ve wronged me and many others,” Muigai Wa Njoroge lamented.
Muigai Wa Njoroge is a very controversial figure, of late he has been releasing songs discrediting President Uhuru Kenyatta and trashing his handshake with Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He was among leading Kikuyu musicians who were paid by Jubilee to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 because of his influence.
The influential singer, who was once an ardent supporter of the President, has released several songs attacking the him for what he claims as disappointing Kikuyus who voted for him overwhelmingly and calling him out for betraying Ruto.
His controversies however doesn’t stop there. In 2007/2008 post election violence he released inciting songs telling Kikuyus to arm themselves and revenge their tribesmen and women who butchered and displaced in Rift Valley.
Muigai was named among the perpetrators of the 2007/2008 post election violence in the new leaked Wikileaks report.
