11 million people who followed Russian model Irina Shayk because of dating Cristiano Ronaldo quickly ditched her moments after she broke up with the football star.

Shayk encouraged social media users to hit the unfollow button if they ‘only know her as Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend’ after breaking up with Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old model was down 11 million followers 24 hours later after the breakup – this according to The Sun.

That drop accounted for 75 per cent of her followers, the site adds.

The Russian supermodel first met the Portuguese footballer on the set of an Armani ad in 2010. They went on to date for close to five years, during which they travelled around the world together. But their romance ended in January 2015.

The model lost 11 million Instagram followers within 24 hours following their break-up Ronaldo.

The football ace has a cult-like following on social media.

Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed person in the world with 597 million people following him on Instagram.

Portuguese football star recently emerged as the highest-paid personality on Instagram in 2023.
