Outspoken and very vocal legislator Millie Grace Akoth Odhiambo Mabona popularly known as Millie Odhiambo has opened up in detail on how not being a mother has affected her for years.

Taking to social media, the Member of Parliament for Mbita Constituency opened up on not being able to be a mother, something that she has already made peace with and referring to herself as the mother of the motherless.

“Those of you who always like attacking me for not having kids kindly have accepted the will of God and moved on. Am a mother of the Motherless and am proud of that,” she said on social media.

Expressing herself even further in a long post, the no-nonsense legislator says that a lot of Kenyans have been making a mockery out of her situation adding her situation has also taken a political side after one political faction celebrating her childlessness while the other half condemning them for the same.

“So I keep bumping upon comments relating to the alleged declaration about accepting my “childlessness”. Apparently, some people are abusing me or celebrating that I do not have a child. It has even taken a political tone with one political faction celebrating and another condemning them. Kenyans surely. 😜😜

I am, however, on behalf of many women who are really struggling to have children and are unable to, touched by the number of people sending messages of support and solidarity. I am genuinely touched by your concern and I wish as is typical of politicians, that I could ride on a perceived victimhood or sad tale. Unfortunately, I tend to be very genuine and honest in life. ( God please help me to be less honest),” she shared in part.

Millie went further to disclose that she is very much okay being without child which is something that hasn’t been in her mind because if it were, she would have sought the assistance of Science to help her get a child, she even stated that she would have tried the Assistive Reproductive Technology procedure if she was keen on having a baby but she didn’t.

Millie disclosed that she will bringing up a Bill in Parliament for all those who may have been abused for not having children.

“I am genuinely okay with or without a baby. I have also never lost sleep even one day because of that. Perhaps, just perhaps…. I may not and may never have been THAT keen to have a baby yawa.
Otherwise I would even have tried Assistive Reproductive Technology. I am bringing a Bill though for those who may be abused for not having children,” she went on.

Millie Odhiambo strongly believes that having a child doesn’t give anyone a special status in life reiterating that an idiot with a child or not will forever remain one and as such Millie with or without a child will forever remain the same Millie that you all know.

“Once again thanks so much guys. But I do not know how to tell you this. We are socialized differently. Not all of us think having children bestows a special status in life.

If you are an idiot, with or without a child you are still one. If you are a night-runner, same, if you have a miserable existence, with or without a child you will still be miserable. If you are merciful, with or without a child you still are. If you are the Millie, with or without a child you are still the Millie,” she concluded.

In a past interview, the legislator opened up on women who are not able to conceive face a lot of stigmas, stressing that she doesn’t usually consider not having a child a big deal at all since she’s never been shy about her inability to conceive.

“I do not want to take the pain that childless women go through and trash it. But for me, childbearing is not really an issue I give a serious premium. It does not define me and women should rise above it; it should not define who they are,” Millie said.
