The Nairobi Governor who doesn’t have any deputy for months broke the internet a couple of days ago after he was arrested in Voi as ordered by Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji.
Mike Sonko was arrested over graft allegations.
“The investigations by the Ethics and Corruption commission and upon receiving independently investigations file I have found enough evidence to warrant prosecution. I have therefore ordered for the immediate arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and other persons. This is in regard to conflict of interest arising from having received moneys from the County of Nairobi while serving as Governor. Unlawful acquisition of public property, money laundering among other economic crimes.” Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji said during a presser.
Mike Sonko who was arrested in Voi and flown to Nairobi to be arraigned in Court, was wearing a white, Versace Tropical logo print T-shirt worth 53,100 Kenyan shillings that was torn during the tussle with the police during his arrest.
