The BBI report, which has been spearheaded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, has been touted as the panacea for all ills that have bedeviled Kenya since its independence in 1963.

MCAs, who until now had no monies allocated to them, will now have millions of shillings in their ward kitties if the BBI report is implemented.

The BBI report has proposed the creation of a Ward Development Fund that will hand the 1,450 elected MCAs across 47 counties to enjoy a similar sway that MPs have with their National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) projects.

The Ward Development Fund will comprise of at least 5% of all the county government’s revenue in each financial year.

BBI report has also recommended that County governments’ allocations from the national revenue be increased from 15% to 35%.
