Mbosso was among three musicians who were banned by Basata from performing for three months starting November 4, 2023.
Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA), the National Arts Council, sanctioned Mbosso, Billnass and Wema Sepetu’s boyfriend Whozu over what it termed as ‘inappropriate’ remix of the song ‘Ameyatimba’.
The regulatory body accused the three musicians of promoting and glorifying rape and sodomy.
The trio was fined Tsh3 million/Ksh150,000 each and suspended from engaging in artistic activities for a three-month period, starting from November 4, 2023.
In a related development, Whozu was directed to promptly remove the video of his song ‘Ameyatimba’ from all digital platforms. Additionally, Whozu has received a fine of Tsh3 million and a six-month suspension from his involvement in artistic activities, starting from the same date, November 4, 2023.
Basata disclosed that Whozu released the video for the song on November 2, 2023, featuring guest appearances by the suspended artists, Mbosso and Billnass.
Mbosso’s ban was to last until February 4, 2024, but the Wasafi boss has hit the stage to perform even before his ban lapsed.
On Saturday night December 2, 2023, Mbosso performed at the final event of Bibi Titi Festival held at Ujamaa Grounds in Ikwiriri, Rufiji region.
Mbosso shared video of his performance on his Instagram account.
The 2023 Bibi Titi Festival ran from November 27 to December 2.
The festival was organized by the Rufiji MP Mohamed Mchengerwa who is also the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports.
It means the government lifted Mbosso’s ban to have him perform at the Bibi Titi Festival.
