Lupita Nyong’ shared some of the messages of support she has received since her breakup with Selema Masekela.
The 41-year-old Kenyan actress took to her Instagram Story to post words of encouragement people have shared with her since she announced her split with her now-ex, Selema Masekela.
Lupita shared a series of quotes with the hashtag #HeartbreakHealing.
“Let the healing begin,” she wrote as she cited a motivational phrase from author R.H. Sin.
“When we stand in our truth, it allows others to do the same. Sending love,” Lupita shared a quote by travel blogger Jessica Nabongo.
“Vulnerability is a superpower. We lift you up with love, and assemble the sisterhood circle around your heart,” she wrote, sharing a message from Georgia State Representative Inga Willis.
The Oscar award winning actress on October 19, 2023, revealed she had ended her relationship with Masekela after one year of dating.
In a breakup post on social media, Lupita expressed her pain following the split with the son of South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela.
The Kenyan actress said she wanted to publicly dissociate herself from someone she could no longer trust and that her love was extinguished by deception.
“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.
“I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, ‘Whatever, my life is better this way’. But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass,” Lupita Nyong’o wrote on Instagram on October 19, 2023.
