Lucy Kibaki and current Othaya MP Mary Wambui were archenemies who didn’t see eye to eye. Ms Wambui claimed she was Kibaki’s second wife prompting Lucy to almost lose her mind.
Wambui alleged that she sired her daughter Winnie Mwai with former President Mwai Kibaki. Her claim that she was Kibaki’s second wife compelled Lucy to force her husband to hold a press conference to clarify the issue.
The infamous press conference at state house in 2009 where Kibaki declared Lucy as her one and only wife is one of the most memorable moments of Kibaki’s administration.
Ironically Lucy’s longtime nemesis shed tears as she addressed members of the press following the death of the former first lady. The Othaya MP said she had lost a friend who was like a mother to her.
Why was she pretending with her crocodile tears while she was probably celebrating in her heart Lucy left her the husband she dearly wanted!!
