Lizzo has offered an uplifting update on her mental well-being while candidly addressing her battle with depression.

The 36-year-old chart-topping pop sensation, renowned for hits like “Truth Hurts,” took to social media on Tuesday (May 21) to share a fresh selfie, accompanied by a heartfelt reflection on her current state of mind.

This update arrives just under two months following a previous statement where she expressed feeling like she had “quit.”

In her latest statement, Lizzo conveyed a sense of optimism and hinted at new music on the horizon.

“I’m the happiest I’ve been in 10 months,” she informed her Instagram followers. Reflecting on the nuances of depression, she added, “The strange thing about depression is you don’t know you’re in it until you’re out of it. I’m definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be.. But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up.”

Expressing gratitude for this newfound clarity, Lizzo noted, “My smile reaches my eyes again and that’s a win.”

Moreover, her improved mental state has ignited a surge of inspiration. “I thought my album was finished.. but I gotta get some of these good vibes off in a banger real quick,” she shared, indicating that her creative energy is flowing once more. “Thanks for your patience ❤️”
