Lillian Omollo is the subject of ridicule on social media after court awarded her a meagre one shilling for unfair dismissal from her previous plum government job.

Ms Omollo served as Youth and Gender Principal Secretary from December 2015 until 2018 when she was suspended over her involvement in the loot of million of shillings from National Youth Service (NYS).

The former PS received half her salary from the time of her suspension until May 2020 when she was ultimately terminated from her position following the appointment of a new Gender PS.

Ms Omollo however moved to court seeking orders to stop the revocation of her appointment, arguing that her termination was unconstitutional.

The former PS received the shock of a lifetime on Thursday October 22nd 2020 when Employment and Labour Court Judge Stephen Radido ordered the government to pay her one shilling only.

Yes, the judged agreed that indeed Ms Omollo’s removal from the government’s payroll was unconstitutional, but he further stated the former PS had accumulated unexplained wealth thus a sum of Ksh 1 was enough compensation for her unfair dismissal.

Social media flooded with euphoria the moment news broke that the former Gender PS had been awarded Ksh 1 by Employment and Labour Court.

Below are some of the hilarious reactions from Kenyans on Twitter:
