Ledama Olekina wants the government to suspend house rent for 3 months to help fight Coronavirus

Ledama Olekina who is the Senator for Narok County wants the government to help Kenyans in every way possible to help fight the deadly coronavirus, COVID-19.

The outspoken Senator took to social media to stress the importance of the government’s role in making sure all Kenyans are safe during these trying times.

According to the Senator, he wants the government to suspend house rents for at least three months to make sure that everyone is catered for since the government asked Kenyans to work from home.

Most Kenyans are still going to work despite the national government through President Uhuru Kenyatta asked them to at least work at home and if possible embrace using mobile money for day to day transactions.

“@StateHouseKenya we appreciate the presidential directive on cashless transactions. To cushion Kenyan citizens who are taking a hit economically please request financial institutions to consider suspending Mortgage and Chattels (car loans) repayment for 3 months” Ledama Olekina said,”

Senator Olekina believes the government actioning what he proposed will not only help most Kenyans to actually self-quarantine without the fear of losing their homes but it will also actually help the country fight the deadly strain of the coronavirus, COVID-19 more efficiently.

“This will help Kenyans stay at home and allow the world to fight the virus without worrying about a roof over their head!” the Senator of Narok County added.
