Larry Madowo is ecstatic after learning that his former screen partner when he was at NTV, Victoria Rubadiri has been feted.
Victoria Rubadiri who is currently working at Royal Media Group’s Citizen TV has been named BBC World News Komla Dumor award recipient.
Rubadiri is the sixth winner of the award, following in the footsteps of Solomon Serwanjja, Waihiga Mwaura, Amina Yuguda, Didi Akinyelure, and Nancy Kacungira.
She is the second Kenyan to win the award.
Victoria Rubadiri will follow her former screen partner, Larry Madowo who is currently working for BBC.
Rubadiri will begin her three-month placement at the BBC by attending a training course with the BBC Academy before joining BBC News teams – across TV, radio, and online – which will provide her with the opportunity to gain skills and experience across BBC News platforms.

“Komla was a well-rounded journalist whose style, though authoritative, was also compassionate, empathetic, and uplifting.
His ability to give the facts comprehensively, and yet still be attuned to his audience, was something I admired and a skill I seek to emulate,” said Rubadiri.
Sharing with the entire world how happy he truly is, Larry Madowo had nothing but praise for Rubadiri after learning about his former screen partner, Victoria Rubadiri winning the BBC World News Komla Dumor award that saw Waihiga Mwaura become the first Kenyan recipient a few years ago.
“What excellent news to wake up to, Victoria Rubadiri! I can’t think of anyone more deserving than my old partner in crime. Congratulations and welcome!” Madowo shared on social media.
“I am excited at the prospect of learning new skills at the BBC to be able to connect with audiences locally, regionally, and internationally, no matter on which platform the story is being told,” Victoria Rubadiri added.
