Being a musician in Kenya is not easy, singer Laika is only counting losses after investing heavily in her music which is giving her nothing in return.
In early August this year, Laika was among Kenyan musicians who were up in arms against Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) over royalty disbursement.
MSCK came under heavy criticisms from many musicians after paying artistes a meagre Ksh 2,530 as royalties collected for the whole year.

As if MCSK peanut pay wasn’t enough, Laika was literally traumatized when she received mere Ksh 45 bob from online music distributor Ngomma VAS.
The sultry singer took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of an M-Pesa message showing the peanuts she earned from one of her songs.
Laika revealed that her music video which earned her 45 bob had cost her a whopping Ksh 405,000 to shoot, she went on to break down the figure.
