King Kaka has been selected to speak at the Goalkeepers -The Global Goals which is a foundation brought to fruition by Bill Gates and his wife Melinda last year which is a foundation aimed at sustaining development famous to end poverty, inequality & climate change by 2030.
The Global Goals which started last year according to Bill and Melinda Gates: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation started Goalkeepers last year because, despite remarkable advances in the fight against poverty, inequality and disease, the job is not yet finished. Progress is possible, but it is not inevitable and that’s why Goalkeepers was designed. It is a catalyst for action, bringing leaders from around the world to share what is working, what’s not and to forge new partnerships for action.
The second annual Goalkeepers will take place the 25-26th of September, at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, as world leaders gather for the UN General Assembly. Goalkeepers ’18 will begin with the Global Goals Awards ceremony on the evening of the 25th, followed by a daytime event on the 26th.
Kenyan rapper who is also an activist King Kaka has been chosen to speak at the second annual Goalkeepers in New York in September together with Trisha Shetty, Ed Sheeran, Bill Gates ,Aranya Johar, Melinda Gates, Graca Machel, David Sengeh.
This will be the first time for a rapper to speak at the coveted podium in New York which is a big win not only for Kenyans but the entire African continent.
He was chosen to participate in this year’s Goalkeepers because of his Sanitary Bank Campaign that seeks to keep 100,000 girls in school. So far the campaign has reached 10,000 girls.
” I am so honored I get to speak at Goalkeepers this year alongside so many great people. I am going to tell our story on the world stage.”
Last year, Kenya was represented by Janet Mbugua and Larry Madowo. This year King Kaka and Adelle Onyango will be Kenya’s representatives.
The humble King Kaka real name Kennedy Ombima was ecstatic as he shared the good news on his Instagram account

About King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign
The King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign has reached 10,000 girls since it began in March. It was started after King Kaka went on a visit to Turkana with UNICEF Kenya where he met a girl who couldn’t go to school because she did not have sanitary towels. Every month, girls miss four to five days of school when they are on their periods. In one academic year, they lose 39 learning days. 2 in 10 girls drop out of school altogether due to embarrassment. 60 percent of girls in slums and rural Kenya engage in transactional sex to buy sanitary towels putting them at risk of STIs, HIV and unwanted pregnancies.
