A 25-year-old man died in a horrific fall from the 14th floor of a luxury Kilimani apartment in Nairobi after a night of drinking with a 48-year-old woman he reportedly met on a dating app — and detectives are now piecing together a tangled web of alcohol, suspected drugs and conflicting accounts.

Festus Lee Oromo, 25, fell to his death from Heartland Apartments, Block B, House 1406, along Kindaruma Road in Kilimani, landing on the roof of a parked Nissan Tiida, where neighbours discovered his body with broken legs and ribs, injuries consistent with a high-impact fall.

Two people — Lillian Moraa Mbeki, 48, and a man identified as Patrick Jagongo — were arrested shortly after the tragedy and remain in police custody as investigators try to unravel what happened in the final moments before Festus plunged from the building.

According to police reports, the trio checked into the apartment on November 28 after an evening of drinking.

Lillian confessed to officers that she had been heavily intoxicated and had gone to sleep in the bedroom, leaving Festus and Patrick together in the living room.

“We were drinking. After I got drunk, I went to the bedroom to sleep. I left the two men in the sitting room. I learnt about his death after hearing the commotion,” she told investigators.

Neighbours said they rushed out after hearing loud noises and screams, only to find Festus’ shattered body on top of the vehicle below.

Detectives who combed through the apartment reported signs of disarray, hinting at a possible confrontation before the fall.

Officers also recovered alcohol and suspected drugs, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis.

Sources close to the investigation say detectives are examining the likelihood that an argument — or something more sinister — may have unfolded between Festus and Patrick before the deadly plunge.

Police are also taking a close look at the relationship between Festus and Lillian.

Preliminary investigations suggest the two had met earlier this year on Tinder, having gone out several times before the fatal night.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been granted 14 days to hold the two suspects as toxicology tests, fingerprints, and forensic samples are analysed. Officers have appealed to anyone with additional information to come forward.

As investigators work to piece together Festus’ final moments, unanswered questions continue to swirl: Was it an accident? A fight gone wrong? Or something far darker?

For now, the mystery of what exactly happened inside apartment 1406 remains at the centre of a widening police probe — and a grieving family waits for answers.
