The forthcoming Margaret Kenyatta Kenya’s First Lady’s Beyond Zero Half Marathon today received an additional Sh 52.68 million financial boost from both public and private organizations.
Today’s financial support is in addition to the Sh113 million in cash and kind donations that the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta received a week ago on behalf of the ‘Beyond Zero’ Campaign.
The 3rd edition of the First Lady’s Marathon is slated for March 6 at Nyayo Stadium.
The funds raised through the Marathon are aimed at purchasing the remaining eleven fully kitted mobile clinics for an equal number of counties. So far, the Beyond Zero Campaign has distributed 36 Mobile Clinics to 36 counties.
The rest of the funds will be used to refurbish hospital wards and the mobile clinics. The First Lady also plans to set up a state-of-the art hospital for women and children as the ultimate goal of the Beyond Zero campaign.
Kenya Commercial Bank donated Sh 20million with a promise from the group’s chairman Mr. Ng’eny Biwott that KCB will continue supporting the Beyond Zero campaign until all the remaining counties receive the impactful mobile clinics.
Vivo Energy gave Sh Sh 10 million towards the Half Marathon with the group’s Retail Manager Ms Lena Munuve praising the Beyond Zero initiative for its mission to inspire action and change lives.
Ms Munuve said the group will b sending a strong team of 24 people to take part in the forthcoming Half Marathon.
Other sponsors included Kenya-Re Corporation, Britam, Parapet Cleaning Services and Reelforge Advertising Company which contributed Sh 5 million each.
Additional contributions were made by Kay Construction Company ( Sh 1.5 million), Firm Bridge Advertising Company (Sh 1.68 million) and Dykoe Company which donated Sh 1 million.
The First Lady thanked the donors saying their support will go a long way in helping achieve the goals of the Beyond Zero initiative. She said the Beyond Zero initiative was benefitting everybody and not just women and children.
