Kenyans have a way of dealing with shock and tragedy. At times we eulogise with fun and irreverence while at most times we are reverent like Kalonzo Musyoka’s tweet below.
At this most trying time for Dr. Wahome’s family, friends, relatives, as well as the Nyeri residents and Kenyans in general, I extend my sincere hand of condolence to all those whose lives he touched.
May the Almighty God Rest his soul in Eternal Peace.— Kalonzo Musyoka (@skmusyoka) November 8, 2017
Kenyans are no joke when it comes to coming up with memes when the situation calls for it. The meme challenge in this story appears after the death of former Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru yesterday, in a grissly road accident. It is not the death that causes the meme challenge but an eyewitness identified as Dennis Muigai Ngengi who claims to have seen the accident happen.
This shocked many Kenyans because he also said that he coincidentally witnessed the Nakuru chopper tragedy. How improbable! But because Kenyans are an enterprising people they decided to use the available footage they had to poke fun at the man who is most likely lying. The man who wore spectacles that had a storage device implanted also had earphones attached to them. Kenyans don’t waste any time, they decided to come out with a challenge to mimic the man. This is the photo that caused they initial craze
