The Kenyan-led Women In Music Concert Series was featured at the 2nd Global Artivism Convening, held from 03–05 November 2025 in Salvador, Brazil. The initiative participated through a panel session led by its founder, Kenyan musician Christine Kamau, who presented and moderated a discussion titled “Opportunities for Women in Music in the Global South.”
The session examined the systemic challenges facing women musicians, drew on existing research around gender and music across the African continent, and explored practical, actionable pathways to expand and accelerate access to opportunities for women within the global music industry.
Joining the conversation as panelists were award-winning South African singer Msaki, Sudanese cultural organiser and bassist Islam Elbeiti, and Brazilian singer-songwriter Luma Oliveira, offering diverse regional perspectives from Africa and Latin America.

The Global Artivism Convening focuses on the intersection of art and social change, uniting artists and activists to address urgent global issues such as climate change and social inequality through creative expression.
The 2025 convening brought together over 800 artists, cultural workers, movement leaders, and funders from 60 countries, hosted at the Wish Hotel and various cultural spaces across Salvador, Brazil.
