Who knew their was a Kenyan manufacturer producing a Kenyan-made vehicle?I know, I know, I have been living under a rock. I did not think I would be alive to see this day happen! This news excites me to no end.
Considering the fact that Kenya is a country that imports most of the tech we get this is extremely good news. Jobs don’t grow on trees, they are made and manufacturing will unlock any great economy.
The Mobius 2 is an upgrade of the first model the Mobius 1 which is in the picture above. The enhanced functions include power-steering ( I thought this was standard for all car models from early 2000s, but oh well this is Kenya), tubular steel frame ( act like you know), 5 speed manual transmission, 1.8 liter engine and retails for 1.3 million.
The vehicle is apparently targeted to SMEs in agribusiness, infrastructure as well as a long-hauler. Also targeted are tourist carriers in the parks.
All I can implore us as Kenyans is that we should build Kenya by buying Kenyan. As the Americans are always imploring their own citizens.
