Last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) recorded the highest cases of examination irregularities.
Amazingly, 2015 KCSE also produced the highest number of ‘A’ plain scored by students ever since Kenya got independence.
The government has since reacted against KNEC whom they blame for the increases cases of examination irregularities.
Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has ordered KNEC to be dissolved and also appointed former University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor Prof George Magoha as the acting Chairman of KNEC.
Meanwhile Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, has ordered the arrest of KNEC chief executive officer Joseph Kivilu and eight other senior officers over examination irregularities.
Nkaissery says preliminary investigation into examination irregularities showed KNEC senior official were involved in cases of exam cheatings.
