Canadian actor Keanu Reeves has revealed his ongoing preoccupation with death, sharing that he constantly thinks about it.
The Hollywood star, best known for his roles in ‘The Matrix’ and ‘John Wick’ discussed this during an appearance on the BBC alongside author China Miéville to promote their new novel, The Book of Elsewhere, which features an immortal character.
“I’m 59, so I’m thinking about death all the time,” Reeves told BBC News.
Despite this fixation, Reeves emphasized that he strives to keep his thoughts on mortality in perspective.
“Hopefully, it’s not crippling, but hopefully, it’s sensitized [us] to an appreciation of the breath we have, and the relationships that we have the potential to have,” he explained.
The Book of Elsewhere is inspired by the popular BRZRKR comic book series, which Reeves co-created.
The actor expressed his passion for the medium, saying, “I love the images. I love words and storytelling and I love the way that you can have this engagement that overlays. And so you can look at the art and then you can follow the story.”
Reeves’ introspection on life and death adds a poignant layer to his latest literary venture, inviting readers to explore deep themes alongside thrilling narratives.
