Karen Nyamu caused a stir on Father’s Day June 18, 2023, when she claimed to have bought Samidoh alcohol worth nearly half a million bucks.

The UDA-nominated senator was seen in a video posted on social media arriving at a liquor store and requested for the most expensive alcoholic drink in the shop.

“The most expensive one,” she informed the store attendant.

The mother of three checked all displayed drinks and settled for a Louis XIII a brandy by Remy Martin. The liquor is valued at Ksh420,000.

She paid the amount using her credit card, sparking debate on social media.

Samidoh later came out to reveal that Karen Nyamu lied about buying him the Ksh420,000 alcohol.

Speaking during an interview with Ala C on his YouTube channel, Karen Nyamu has made it clear that she never bought the expensive alcohol.

The mother of three revealed that the video that showed her buying the expensive alcohol was just a commercial advertisement.

Karen revealed that she was passing by a liquor store owned by her old friend when she was asked to do the ad to promote the store, something she is not used to doing.

“They took a video using their phone. They sent me the edited video to approve and post it on my Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok accounts to promote it,” Karen Nyamu said.

The UDA senator claimed that despite making the video of the ad voluntarily, she was reluctant to post it on her social media accounts as she was not happy with the behavior shown.

She claimed that the staff at the liquor store sought the help of bloggers to spread the video after seeing that she was not posting it.

“I don’t have the qualities shown in the video, I was worried about publishing it. They asked me to publish it and they saw that I was hesitant, so they panicked and sent it to bloggers after they saw that I didn’t publish it,” she said.

Nyamu emphasized that she is not someone who likes to show off despite being financially stable and living a good life.

She also noted that she was not happy about being seen giving alcohol as a Father’s Day gift.

“I am a leader, the one I am dating is a community leader. We are a mirror to the community. We cannot show that the only gift we can give is alcohol,” she said.

She said that after the video was made public, she contacted the staff at the liquor store and reprimanded them for distributing it. She said the damage had already been done and so she had to spend the following hours defending herself and explaining to people that it was a commercial advertisement.

“Sam used to complain to me why I made an advertisement for free, while in the past I have been offered many opportunities to make advertisements for money and I have been rejecting those offers. He questioned who the person I made the announcement for is to me,” Nyamu said.

The mother of three revealed that the Mugithi singer did not like the idea of her making the advertisement and scolded her for it.

She also revealed that if she had really bought the alcohol, the father of her two young children would never have accepted the expensive gift from her and would have even asked her to return it to the store where she got it.

“I can’t buy Ksh420,000 worth of alcohol. I’m not stupid, even if I was sent back to the store by the person they say I was buying from,” she said.
