KANU has indicated that while it is of the view that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should be reconstituted, it does not subscribe to confrontational politics apparently employed by the CORD.
West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo has hit back at Nick Salat for attending the CORD rally and the anti-IEBC demonstrations two weeks ago, and has hinted that Salat is likely to face disciplinary action for his actions.
He warned KANU supporters that Salat’s appearance in the CORD meetings and functions is a personal decision and does not reflect the position of the party.
The senator further hinted that the party’s executive committee will be meeting in the near future to discuss the conduct of the secretary general.
“I wish to remind Kenyans that the party KANU, stands for peace, love and unity for all Kenyans. We don’t subscribe to confrontational politics. As a party, like many other parties including our competitors, e.g. JAP, want IEBC to be reformed before 2017 elections,” the senator wrote in his Facebook account.
“Whatever our SG Salat is doing in CORD meetings is strictly personal, and does not represent KANU position. All KANU members and Kenyans at large, should not listen to Salat. We are soon calling KANU top organ to discuss the unbecoming conduct of Hon Salat,” he added.
This comes after Salat attended the CORD Madaraka Day rally at Uhuru Park grounds where he demanded that IEBC commissioners vacate office as demanded by the opposition.
