‘2020’ hitmaker Justina Syokau had made it a habit to release songs named after a new year but for 2024 Kenyans told her to give them a break.
Syokau, who is currently pregnant, stated that she had heeded calls from Kenyans and would not release 2024 song as she had anticipated.
The pregnant musician while speaking in a recent interview on Mutembei TV noted that she had received multiple petitions from a section of Kenyans imploring her not to sing about 2024.
“Kuna watu wana complain sana by the way. Watu wanasema ati ohh 2024 usiimbe, watu wanasema nisiprovoke mwaka. Watu wanaseme ati niache 2024 ikuje unprovoked, nisiimbie 2024,” Syokau said.
The controversial gospel singer vowed not to sing about 2024 but also hit back at her critics insisting that she does not jinx the year as some people accused her.
Justina Syokau insisted that she was not to be blamed for the misery that befell some people during the year 2023 that made them think her singing about 2024 could cause them to suffer similar ordeal.
“Nataka kuambia Wakenya yakwamba mimi kama Justina Syokau I am not going to provoke the year, not only provoking mimi sitawarogea mwaka na sirogangi. Watu wananiwekelea shida zoa na nantaka kuwaambia kwamba mimi siimbi 2024 song. Na tafadhali nataka muwe na amani kwa sababu ata nkienda town sina amani watu wananikimbiza ‘usitoe wimbo wa 2024’. Jamani mimi si mwenye nimekuletea shida zenye siko nazo,” she said.
