Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone has officially expanded his business empire into Burundi with the launch of ‘Chameleone FM’ in Bujumbura.

The move fulfils a personal promise made to President Évariste Ndayishimiye to invest in the nation’s creative economy.

The station, broadcasting on 90.9 and 94.9 FM, aims to be the heartbeat of East African youth culture.

In a high-profile expansion of his Leone Island empire, the Valu Valu hitmaker officially launched Chameleone FM in Bujumbura, Burundi, on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The move marks a significant shift for the singer, as he transitions from a stage performer to a regional media mogul with the power to shape the airwaves.

The launch wasn’t just a commercial venture; it was a diplomatic triumph.

In December 2025, Chameleone was hosted at the Ntare Rushatsi House by Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, where he pledged to invest in the country’s media sector to bridge cultural ties between Kampala and Bujumbura.

Broadcasting on the 90.9 FM and 94.9 FM frequencies, the new station is headquartered in the heart of Burundi’s capital.

Chameleone told fans that the project is his way of “giving back” to a nation that has supported his music since his breakthrough in the early 2000s.

“I am a man of my word,” the singer shared via social media.

“This station will not just play music; it will be a platform for every emerging artist from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania to find their voice in Burundi.”

The Burundi launch is only the first step in Chameleone’s 2026 “Empire Expansion” plan. The singer is reportedly eyeing further legacy projects across East Africa.

In Burundi, Chameleone’s popularity is rivaled only by heads of state. His recent concerts in the country saw thousands of fans lining the streets of Bujumbura just to catch a glimpse of his motorcade.

By establishing a permanent media presence, Chameleone is ensuring his brand remains relevant long after he hangs up the microphone.

With his radio station now live and the youth of Burundi tuning in, the “Doctor” has proven once again that his influence truly knows no borders.
