Carolyne Waithera, the second wife of the late Kikuyu vernacular singer John Demathew, has revealed that the late musician’s remains might be exhumed soon.
Waithera revealed that John Demathew’s body could be exhumed because of a land dispute that began just a year after they the musician was buried.
Speaking during an interview with content creator Karangu Muraya, Demathew’s widow revealed that the musician was buried in a land claimed by another person.
Waithera explained that the land in question was where the late singer and his family lived. She said that they had stayed on the land for five years.
The widow fears that should they lose the land to the party claiming it they will be forced to exhume the singer’s remains and bury it in another land.
Waithera further noted that the land is now surrounded by new buildings and that they are afraid that with time the grave could be destroyed when new construction takes place.
The widow emotionally stated that she was sad her young son might not be able to visit the grave when he grows up.
Waithera separately revealed that she is open to remarrying.
While interacting with her fans in a live recording on Facebook, Demathew’s widow revealed that she now wants another man to pay her dowry.
A curious fan asked about the story behind the song dubbed ‘Nikio ngukuraciria'(..this is why I’m paying your dowry) which was recorded during her traditional wedding to which she laughed before responding by saying;
“That dowry is over, I now want someone else to pay my dowry.”
This comes three years after the tragic death of her husband who lost his life in a car crash along Thika road.
After his burial, it has since emerged that Carolyne and De Mathew’s first wife Sarafina fell apart and later Carol claimed she had been thrown out of their matrimonial home.
