When it comes to the new wave of rap artistes in Kenya, it’s safe to say that Japesa’s drip is something that can’t be overlooked or even ignored. For an artiste who has sick flow, bars for days, punchlines with sick delivery and doing it in Dholuo dialect, it’s something unprecedented right now in the rap’s market.

It’s like Japesa is a living Kenyan, Luo trap god in a sense because whatever he is doing in regard to music, there’s nobody who comes close to what he does, in a sense, he is somewhat a pioneer in Luo rap music in the country so every move he makes is unprecedented.

As it so happens, Japesa -who rocks a ponytail just like the one successful South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest used to have a couple of years ago- is an artiste who doesn’t have money problems, (at least he would have us believe that) or he has really invested heavily on his craft releasing expensive music videos somewhat surpassing some of the music video released by established rap artistes in the country.

Japesa real name Philip Patroba Okoyo which translates to somebody who has money in Luo also likes to take pictures flaunting money once in a while and posting them to social media telling the world that he is indeed really hustling the way most successful people are.
