Khaligraph Jones took to social media when he arrived in Nigeria and called out an 10 willing presenters that were willing to travel Nigeria and see if they are famous there since they usually play a whole lot of their music in the Kenyan radio that Kenyan musicians.

Khaligraph Jones mentioned that he will fully cater for them everything they would need to make the trip smoothly and safely.

He wrote: “I am planning on Bringing at least 10 big Kenyan media personalities/Radio presenters to Nigeria for a 10 day trip which I myself shall cater for,I want to see if some of y’all will be recognized by your Nigerian fans or if you even have fans at all here, it would be very sad if you don’t though 😂😂 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬”

Clearly comedian, host and radio presented, Jalang’o did not take light to the remark and took to social media how the game usually goes down by iterating that radio presenters does not have any say in what music they have to play on radio.

He wrote in part: “@khaligraph_jones is planning a trip for presenters and media personalities to NAIJA to see if they have fans there since we play too much Naija and soon the next trip will be to bongo! Yes we don’t have fans there but before you start blaming us!”

Jalang’o went on to explain that before a music is played on radio, there has to be red tape adherence taking place with research of the music, and that radio presenters doesn’t have any say on what songs gets to be played on radio and a lot of protocol has to be followed.

” Did you know that presenters don’t even choose music played on Radio and if they do they have very little say on what goes on air? No you dint! Before music is scheduled on Radio it is researched on and all we do is play !”

Jalang’o also explained that it is Kenyans who appreciates Naija and Bongo music to our local music and he even took a survey on his Instagram page asking people which type of songs they would love to listen to and shockingly the respond they got was shocking. Apparently Kenyans prefers Bongo music with a 50% in preference in the genre with 40% in preference in Naija music.

He wrote: ” The other day we were involved in making our playlist, I posted it here asking you to help us and the results were shocking almost! 50% Bongo 40% Naija! Today on Apple Music there are only 6 Kenyan songs in top 100 Kenya! So hata hiyo pia ni ma presenters na djs wamepanga?”

Jalang’o went to to say that Naija and Bongo has penetrated the Kenyan market because of their aggresiveness and best marketing strategies and was shocked that Kenyan musicians still depends on radio and TV while there are many avenues they can exploit like YouTube, Apple music, Spotify and even social media.

The comedian even used Diamond Platnumz as a case study of how he released his album in more than 10 countries.

Jalango’s said that he has played his part as anybody would, he said, “We can’t play what we don’t know! I personally has hosted and booked you guys for events and paid you guys for shows even if it’s little ,I have done my part!”.

Jalang’o also addressed the fact that Kenyan musicians does not support each other and the evident is when King Kaka launched his album, no artiste showed up but they were busy begging Diamond Platnumz for a selfie.

“But the question is how did we get here to NAIJA and BONGO? Marketing! Aggressiveness! And getting out your comfort zone! If you are still depending on Radio and Tv to make you big then you have nothing in this industry! There are too many avenues! YouTube, Spotify,Apple music..then we have social media platforms! Diamond launched his Album in more than 10 countries some of you have not launched even for your family! We can’t play what we don’t know! I personally has hosted and booked you guys for events and paid you guys for shows even if it’s little ,I have done my part! The other day @thekingkaka launched his Album they dint even show up and the other day saw them begging selfies with Diamond just like they did with Neyo instead of asking for collabo! Khaligraph you know what hard work is and what it took you to be there! Sautisol dint have to depend on us! Hii ni 2019 na mkiendelea hivi mtatukuna saana!
