It’s been a journey, a long journey to be precise for one of the most versatile comedians in the country Jalang’o real name Felix Odiwuor.
When it comes to Jalang’o(a name he was given by the late Papa Shirandula), his case is rather a unique one.
He is one person that we can all clearly say that has made his fortune vicariously through the typical cliche’ “from zero to hero”.
Coming from a poor background in Homabay County with no prospect on the horizon, he has worked his way up to the success he is currently basking under right now, and well deservingly so.
Allow me to remind you a bit about Jalang’o; this guy was once a fisherman in Lake Victoria, who was actually fishing for his daily survival.
It is also alleged that he did some construction work here and there especially in Nairobi while living with his uncle in Embakasi Nairobi.
What motivates Jalango you might wonder?
It’s the good ole’ POVERTY is what motivates Jalang’o, he has said this severally whenever he is narrating his come-up story.
We all have stories to tell, but only a few of us get to tell their stories when they have finally made it in life the way the Jatelo Jaleng’o has “arrived” in his life.
Even though Jalango’s source of livelihood was in the waters of Lake Victoria at one given time in his life, it did not stop him from becoming a role model to the many youths in the country whether in oblivion or when he is well aware of his positive influence.
“Am not a married man yet” Jalang’o denies holding a private traditional wedding
Jalang’o must have gone through a lot as he was growing up, and I can tell you this without fear of contradiction that he was never alone.
There are so many other prominent people that we know and respect today whose lives were once associated with poverty almost synonymously.
Today, the same people are dining with kings and kings in high places even being a part of upper echelons in various fields.
Just as I said earlier, everybody indeed as a rather unique and interesting story of their come up in becoming their best selves in society, and some situations are somewhat never subtle.
If this guy Jalang’o could do it, then you can do it too.
It takes a lot of hard work, persistence, determination, and most importantly, you must have a goal and develop a plan for reaching your goal.
The main reason why so many people are involved in a rat race’ scenario is that they have forgotten where they have come from, and they now have nothing to motivate them.
It happened like a big bang!
Today, Jalang’o is working for another radio station, Kiss FM, barely a month after he was allegedly sacked from radio Maisha where he hosted the morning show with Alex Mwakideu for enough years.
Kamene Goro addresses allegations of sleeping with Jalang’o
After Jalang’o left radio Maisha, he rolled out a new show dubbed ‘Bongo na Jalas’ exclusively on YouTube ahead of high anticipation.
This diverse, unique show has done tremendously well with over 144 thousand subscribers.
Through his YouTube channel dubbed ‘Bongo na Jalas’, Jalang’o has hosted a number of celebrities such as Otile Brown, Sauti soul, Betty Kyalo, Tanasha Dona, and prominent politicians like the famous Gatundu MP Moses Kuria and the former governor of Kiambu William Kabogo.
Just before going to Kiss FM to replace Kibe, Jalang’o also happened to host outspoken controversial Andrew Kibe on his show, ‘Bonga na Jalas,’ the same man who was allegedly fired from Kiss FM to create space for him to take over.
There was just one reason why Jalang’o had to host Kibe on Bongo na Jalas, both Jalang’o and Kibe wanted to clear the air.
During this time there was grapevine going around that Jalang’o caused the sudden exit of Kibe on the radio station. Both Jalang’o and Kibe who are friends and cordial with each other did clarify this matter.
In fact, Kibe even confirmed during the interview on Bonga na Jalas that he was with Jalang’o a day prior to his submission of his resignation letter.
Monday the 13th of July, 2020 was his first show at a place “where it all started,” Kiss 100.
Just like before, no mistakes, Jalang’o, and Kamene nailed the show, thanks to the good wishes he received from his fans and former colleagues.
The big question is, are we still going to watch Bonga na Jalas or ‘J TV’ on YouTube? If yes, then we should even expect more from him and if no, please stop hating.
Jalang’o is a role model for many young people, and him going back to where it all started is the true definition of “never burn your bridges” you never know when you might need to go back and use the same bridge.
