Renowned journalist Jacque Wanjiru Maribe has been plunged into deep mourning following the death of her father—a man she has hailed as the ultimate pillar of her life and the “definition of perfection.”
In a raw and heart-shattering Instagram post shared on Monday, December 22, the former political reporter poured out her grief, struggling to imagine a future without the man who stood by her through her most public triumphs and her most grueling trials.
“Sasa, what do I tell a man like you? The definition of perfection,” she wrote in the emotional tribute.
“I don’t know how I will live without you dad, but I know you are not in pain. I love you with everything in me.”

As the news of the passing broke, messages of condolence flooded social media, led by Jacque’s long-time confidant and Head of Presidential Special Projects, Dennis Itumbi.
Itumbi, who has remained a steadfast figure in Jacque’s life for over a decade, thanked her for the privilege of knowing her father, whom he described as an exceptionally “solid” and loving figure.
“Asante sana my friend Jacque Wanjiru, for introducing me to Mzee MARIBE,” Itumbi wrote in a touching message. “A FATHER so solid. His love is captured in a photo that speaks. That photo will live in the hearts of many. May God’s own hand wrap you and your family in grace.”

Mzee Maribe was a constant, stabilizing presence in Jacque’s life, most notably seen standing by his daughter throughout her years-long legal battle in the high-profile Monica Kimani murder case.
He was often photographed at court, a silent but fierce protector of his daughter’s name and spirit.

Jacque’s followers, many of whom have admired her resilience in the face of immense personal and professional challenges, have rallied around her, urging her to find strength in the “perfect” legacy her father leaves behind.
For Jacque, the loss is more than just a family tragedy; it is the loss of her “North Star.”
Despite the “raw emotion” of her tribute, she expressed a sense of comfort in her belief that her father is finally at peace and free from the physical ailments that marked his final days.

As the Maribe family prepares for the difficult days ahead, the journalist’s words stand as a testament to a bond that transcended the public gaze: “I love you with everything in me.”
