In a surprising turn of events, ‘Extra Pressure’, the latest collaboration between Bensoul and Bien Aime, has taken the Kenyan music scene by storm, currently trending at number two on YouTube as of August 21, 2024.

The track is vying for the top spot, just behind Diamond Platnumz’s ‘Komasava’ remix featuring American pop sensation Jason Derulo.

With only six days since its release, ‘Extra Pressure’ is quickly gaining traction, and its popularity is set to soar even further, according to current data from the music charts.

Bensoul launched the much-anticipated song during his performance at the Blankets and Wine concert held at Laurent Gardens in Kasarani last Sunday.

Reflecting on the song’s journey, Bensoul shared an intriguing backstory.

Originally intended for Bien Aime’s album, the track was ultimately left off due to creative differences.

“Extra Pressure featuring Bien is the oldest song in my new album. We wrote the song three years ago. It was meant to be on Bien’s album (Alusa Why are You Topless), but his team rejected it because there were so many things he had planned for his first album (as a solo artist) and they felt ‘Extra Pressure’ didn’t fit in. So when they rejected it, I told Bien, please give me back my song,” Bensoul explained.

Now featured as track number three on Bensoul’s second studio album — and his first as an independent artist — titled The Party & The After Party, ‘Extra Pressure’ showcases the talent of both artists and is one of the 15 tracks on the album.

Bensoul’s capacity to transform a rejected song into a chart-topping success highlights the unpredictable nature of the music industry and the potential for second chances.

As ‘Extra Pressure’ continues to climb the charts, fans are eager to see where its journey takes it next.
