Davies Mwabili, popularly known as Inspekta Mwala, killed a pedestrian in Kaloleni, Kilifi County on Monday night August 26th 2019.
The Citizen TV actor was driving from Kaloleni town on Mazeras highway at around 11 pm when he tried to overtake and veered off the road, hitting 35-year-old Samwel Mwaki who succumbed to his injuries.
Rabai Police Chief David Maina rushed to the scene of the accident and rescued the actor who was on the verge of being lynched by an angry mob.
Mwala was arrested for causing the accident, but was on Tuesday August 27th freed on a Ksh 40,000 police bond pending his trial.
Police have since determined that Inspekta Mwala was drunk when he caused the accident. According to police, the actor was driving under the influence when he hit Samwel Mwaki who was crossing the road, killing him on the spot.
The Toyota Axio, which Mwala was driving, dragged Mwaki for about 100 metres before coming to a halt. The deceased suffered severe body injuries with his skull, hands and legs being crashed.
