Four of the nine Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners are now willing to vacate office following the ongoing process aimed at reforming the electoral body.
The four are said to have written to President Uhuru Kenyatta to notify him of their intention to leave office as demanded by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).
The four are Yusuf Nzibo, Albert Bwire, Kule Galma Godana and Abdullahi Sharawe.
The other five have resolved to stay put and are ready to fight for their positions to the end. They are Chairman Issack Hassan, vice chairperson Lilian Mahiri-Zaja, Mohamed Alawi Hussun, Muthoni Wangai and Thomas Letangule.
Those ready to leave office have demanded that they be paid the full amount they would receive for the time they would have been in office.
The commissioners also want to be paid gratuity for the work they have done and additional payment as compensation for reputations they feel have been damaged.
