In the last couple of days, there have been some really beautiful bank notes circulating on social media showing the new generation of currency that we will get to be using. The central bank governor came out to deny that the bank had officially revealed the new generation of the bank notes. So are the banknotes real or aren’t they?
From the level of detail, we have observed on the notes we can glean that the notes must have comevfrom the central bank but were leaked by a few zealous employees. If you look at the response the governor gave out he does not deny the authenticity of the notes but denies that it is the Central Bank that officially released them.
The reason why the bank had to change how our currency appears is because of the new constitution that was promulgated in 2010. The new constitution stated that no faces of individuals should appear on the notes only certain aspects of the country should thus the inclusion of the big 5. And aren’t those notes that were leaked pretty. Shows that Kenyans in government can actually do an excellent job in something. All in all, we hope that the images that were released prove to be the real deal. Here are examples of the notes below:
