Kenyans have experienced very painful deaths of politicians, civil servants and people who worked closely with them.
This article is in memory and remembrance of those political leaders, fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers who passed away while serving in office or doing their jobs.
We still remember you, in our hearts and in our minds.
Chris Msando
One of Kenya’s most well-known unsolved crimes is the murder of IEBC technology manager Chris Msando. He openly proclaimed that the 2017 election’s transmission method was impenetrable to corruption. An autopsy revealed that Chris Msando had been fatally strangled and subjected to horrific torture.
George Saitoti and Orwa Ojode
The untimely deaths of Orwa Ojode, deputy to the minister of internal security, and George Saitoti, the minister of internal security, shocked the nation. The unfortunate helicopter’s whole crew perished. At the time, the majority of Kenyans believed that the killings were the result of carefully planned political assassinations.
Kijana Wamalwa
Reputable Kenyan politician Michael Christopher Kijana Wamalwa was the eighth Vice-President of Kenya at the time of his passing.
His illness was attributed to gout, a chest infection, or pancreatitis in some Kenyan media, however, the British journal The Economist alleged that AIDS-related complications were to blame for his passing.
Jacob Juma aka Kabetes
The death of Kenyan businessman Jacob Juma was discovered in a pool of blood on Ngong Road in Nairobi at 9.30 p.m. on May 6, 2016.
Jacob Juma was a relentless opponent of corruption and a trusted ally of many opposition figures.
He did not hesitate to denounce corruption; in fact, he freely discussed the pervasive problem on social media @Kabetes on Twitter.
George Muchai
George Muchai was a politician and labor activist from Kenya. Since the 2013 elections, he has represented the Kabete Constituency in the National Assembly.
He was a Jubilee Alliance member. Muchai escaped a life-threatening attempt in October 2011. He was unfortunately shot at and killed in 2015.
Major-General Joseph Kasaine Ole Nkaissery
From 2002 to 2014, Joseph Ole Nkaissery served as a Member of Parliament for Kenya’s National Assembly before resigning to become the cabinet’s Secretary for Internal Security and Coordination of National Government.
He was declared dead early on July 8, 2017, and post-mortem findings revealed that he had experienced an acute myocardial infarction.
Tom Mboya
Tom Mboya was a highly regarded politician, educator, labor unionist, and Pan-Africanist.
At the time of his murder, he was the minister of economic planning and development.
On July 5, 1969, he was shot near what is now Moi Avenue shortly after purchasing lotion from Chaani’s Pharmacy.
Following the assassination, hundreds of people gathered at the hospital as the nation descended into mourning over the tragedy.
Mutula Kilonzo
It’s reported that workers discovered the first senator of Makueni lifeless in his bedroom on April 27, 2013.
According to reports, he was found in bed with foam on his mouth and vomit in his bathroom sink.
His death remains a mystery to date.
Mugabe Were
“He left later to meet a woman who wanted to sell him a car at a club on Lenana Road. He left the woman at her home in the Imara Daima estate at 11 o’clock and went home by himself.
Before the watchman could open the gate for him, the killers opened fire on it at that point, according to Mr. Justice Kimaru.
JM Kariuki
1975 saw the unexplained disappearance of the MP from his residence. Later, his wife would locate his body in the mortuary with an unidentified tag still on it.
His spouse added, “He knew someone were chasing him and once or twice his car was shot at.” The outspoken politician was ambitious and wanted to be president. His death has never been fully explained.
George Thuo
He was allegedly poisoned, according to records.
In specimens that were examined and clothing worn by the deceased when he collapsed, retired government chemist Wandera Bideru confirmed that he had discovered traces of a deadly pesticide.
Robert Ouko
The Distinguished Robert Ouko, popularly known as Dr. John Robert Ouko, was a Kenyan politician who held the position of foreign minister twice, from 1988 to 1990 and 1979 to 1983.
From the colonial era to the administrations of Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi, Robert Ouko served in the Kenyan government. He is reported to have been killed in the Koru region.
Karisa Maitha
Emmanuel Karisa Maitha, the minister of tourism and wildlife for Kenya, passed away from a heart attack in August 2004 while addressing a press conference in Germany.
Joyce Laboso
On July 29, 2019, Laboso passed away from cancer at the Nairobi Hospital.
She was initially diagnosed in 1991, but according to her physicians, she had been in remission up until 2018, when her health started to decline. Cancer had spread throughout her body, according to reports.
