Gramps Morgan has opened up about his hit song ‘Wash the Tears’ a hit single he released a few days ago and how he came about in writing the song itself.
Gramps Morgan wrote the ‘Wash the Tears’ sing after he lost his mother back in 1988 to cancer and through his sister’s reminiscing about their late mother in 1999, he came up with the lyrics of the song.
Gramps Morgan who is a member of the Reggae group Morgan Heritage released the official song 11 years later.
Morgan Heritage band was formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.
“My mother lost her battle with cancer in 1988.
In 1999 my sister was reminiscing her memory while we were on tour. Her emotions inspired the lyrics and melody for Wash the Tears.
Another 11 years later the song was released worldwide.
It has changed my life forever in more ways than one and, will always hold a special place in my heart.” Gramps Morgan said in part.
Gramps Morgan has released the acoustic version of the hit song confessing that the message in the song still lingers in mind reiterating that the world right now needs this song.
“Today, another 11 years later I’ve released an acoustic version of the song.
The message in the lyrics still ring true after all of these years. The world is still in pain but together “We shall be alright”
This version is my gift to all of you that have supported me and my career for over a decade,” Gramps added.

He went on to introduce his newest offering dubbed ‘A Woman Like You’ that should be expected on the 9th day of April 2021, a song dedicated to all the women in the world, including his mother.
“We’re also excited to announce that my next single A Woman Like You will be released on April 9th. Available to pre-save now. It is a song dedicated to all of the women in the world including my mother.”
Gramps Morgan will always and forever have his mother in his heart each and every day of his entire life.
