Rwandan gospel artist Israel Mbonyi is making waves in Kenya, eager to connect with his growing fan base following the success of his hit song ‘Nina Siri’ in the region.
Known for his spiritually uplifting music, Mbonyi took to his social media channels to express his excitement, greeting his Kenyan audience with a simple yet heartfelt message: “Hello Kenya.”
The announcement, prominently pinned across all his social media platforms, has generated significant buzz. Fans in Kenya have been eagerly awaiting more details, with many urging Mbonyi to confirm the dates of his planned visit.
Earlier in January, Mbonyi shared his ambitious plans to tour Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. His recent post has only heightened anticipation among his East African followers.
Israel Mbonyi’s journey into music began at a young age. Born on May 20, 1992, to Christian parents in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he received early musical training from a dedicated teacher during his childhood. This foundation paved the way for his eventual rise in the gospel music scene.
His breakthrough came with the release of ‘Nina Siri’ on June 26, 2023. The song quickly gained widespread acclaim and resonated deeply with audiences in Tanzania and Kenya.
Its success even caught the attention of notable figures like former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who praised Mbonyi’s poetic talent.
“I’ve been watching this young man called Israel Mbonyi, he’s Rwandan but he sings like a Tanzanian. He’s very poetic when he sings ‘Nina Siri…’ then ‘Jasiri…’” Musyoka remarked in an interview with TV47.
‘Nina Siri’ has amassed over 47 million views on YouTube, solidifying Mbonyi’s status as a significant figure in the gospel music scene.
Following this success, he released several other songs, including “Nitaamini” in November 2023, “Malengo Ya Mungu” in December 2023, and “Sikiliza” in February 2024.
As Mbonyi prepares to engage more closely with his East African fans, the excitement continues to build. His unique blend of poetic lyrics and spiritual messages has clearly struck a chord, promising a warm welcome for the gospel artist in Kenya and beyond.
