Raila Odinga said Lang’ata MP Jalang’o is a traitor and some people didn’t believe him until now when deputy president Rigathi Gachagua confirmed that the ODM lawmaker crossed over to the UDA camp.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Starehe Affordable Housing project, Gachagua said that Jalang’o crossed over to the UDA camp after being ejected from Azimio Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting in Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos County.
Jalang’o was denied access to the Azimio PG on suspicion that he was spying for UDA after he met president William Ruto in State House, Nairobi earlier on.
“Sisi tunasema kila mtu yuko tayari kwa maendeleo. Huyu Jalang’o ni wetu tayari. Baada ya kukutana na rais wetu William Ruto kule State House kwa mambo maendeleo, alifukuzwa kwa mkutano,” Gachagu said.
Jalang’o and his Dagoretti North counterpart, Beatrice Elachi, were among the leaders who attended the ceremony in Ziwani which was presided over by president Ruto.
Jalang’o is on record for saying he has no apologies for meeting Ruto.
Opposition lawmakers from Nyanza who met Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House on February 7, 2023, include; Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
Raila had in the past Azimio rallies termed the rebel ODM MPs as traitors and demanded that they should leave the party.
