I first met @bonifacemwangi around 2004 when working at Kiss 100 as a radio copywriter. He took a photo of me and Yvonne Chaka Chaka which I later bought from him. We kept in touch after that first encounter thanks to my interest in photography, and later through attending @mavunochurchorg. Over the years, I’ve come to admire his unquenchable passion for justice. Despite his sometimes abrasive nature and posts that make me cringe, I stand by his call for us to wake up and hold our leadership accountable to their oaths of office.

Last night, at the launch of his book, he surprised me when he announced he plans to vie for the Starehe Parliamentary Seat come the next General Elections. If Boniface gets into parliament, I fear we will be left without anyone to champion justice and accountability of our leaders; I fear Boniface will change and become like the MPs we lambast at protests he has organised; I fear his name will appear on a list of people who’ll have stolen from the people
