Fena Gitu has officially and publicly severed her working relationship with one record producer and Sound Engineer, Jaaz Odongo.
The ‘Siri’ hitmaker took to social media sharing her official statement about where she stands in regard to sexual allegations leveled against the record producer, Jaaz Odong who is a producer that she’s worked with on numerous projects together.
Jaaz Odongo who is also a record label owner has been accused of an alleged sexual assault by an upcoming artiste, Janice Iche.
Janice Iche accused the record producer of sexually assaulting her on the night of 14th December 2018 saying that she remembered waking up naked in her own bed in a pool of blood.
“On the night of 14th December 2018. I was raped by J**z Od**go.” Janice Iche said in part in her tell-all story that took her time to tell. “I put his name in asterisks like that because I stand a risk of being sued for “defamation” by him just by telling my story.”
Fena Gitu doesn’t want to be attached to him and/or anyone whatsoever who has been accused of sexual assault or any other misconduct that doesn’t sit right with her.
“… I love and value my work as an artist, I have certain responsibilities as a result of that work,” the statement read in part, “I love my friend and producer, I deeply believe in the safety of women in the artistic space and that women should be believed” she continued.
Fena Gitu doesn’t see any other different way of dealing with this situation at the moment but to part ways with the record producer who she refers to as a friend.
“As a result of these conversations, I have made the decision to no longer work with Jaaz or anyone else that is accused of sexual assault or other misconduct.” Fena Gitu declared on her social media statement post, “It’s been difficult to navigate, but I just don’t see a different way forward at this time.”
Fena Gitu who stressed that she will still continue to love Jaaz Odongo always despite what he’s going through at the moment with his sexual assault allegation said that women in the industry deserve to be held with the utmost respect by fellow male artistes and every other person in the music industry without living “under the shadow of someone else’s mistakes, misconduct or even poor choices.”
“At the same time, I hold space for my fellow artists – especially female artists – who are blamed and attacked when our colleagues, brothers, and friends and accused of wrong doing.” Fena Gitu’s official statement read.
“We do not need to live under the shadow of someone else’s mistakes, misconduct, or even poor choices. We deserve to be held with the respect that is due to us, our won work, and our own conduct, not on the behavior of others.”
