Former Standard Media Group Journalist Evelyne Ogutu passes on

Evelyne Ogutu passed away on November 11, at a Nairobi Hospital after delivering twins.

The newborn twins are currently being monitored closely by the Nairobi hospital where their mother passed on.

The news of her demise has shocked close friends and family members who are still in shock by the unexpected news, most of them are still in disbelief that she’s gone forever.

Social media has been flooded with messages of condolences from friends and family members.

Among the many Kenyans who reacted to the news of Ogutu’s passing was Dennis Itumbi who is still in shock and cannot believe that his friend of many years. He’s in denial that Ogutu has passed on.

“There are people who we meet and make our friends, then there are those who become our friends before our first meeting.

Those that fill our lives with a desire to fight just once more…those who just text and say, ” I called to slow you down by saying Hello….”

Then one day, you go to a WhatsApp group and you meet the news that she will never call again. She is gone.

This one has literally slapped me to the reality that we are here, under the sun, for just, but a while,” President William Ruto’s digital communication strategist shared in part.

“Daamn!

No, I will not write Goodbye yet, let me just hold a little bit, against all hope, there is a possibility it is not done yet…” he concluded.

Prior to entering the PR industry, Evelyne Ogutu worked as a journalist for the Standard Media Group. She had expertise in event planning and management, media relations, and strategic communications and planning.

She worked with Kenya Breweries Limited, Procter & Gamble, Kenya Orient Insurance Company, Rural Electrification Authority, Family Bank, Ministry of East African Community, TradeMark East Africa, World Bank, and IFC.

She also worked with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation’s Health Sector Services Fund.

Her areas of expertise were regional integration, policy and media lobbying, influencer/stakeholder interactions, and strategic communications.

Evelyne Ogutu served as the lead communications consultant for the Ministry of East African Affairs’ regional integration awareness campaign, “The Journey to the East African Integration is on Course,” from 2011 to 2013.

This campaign included stakeholder engagement, media relations, a branded multimedia campaign, and social media.
