International Reggae star Etana has impressed a lot of people with her latest studio project dubbed ‘Pamoja’ that she released a few days ago.
The Grammy-nominated musician has an impressive compilation of songs on that project that will impress any music maestro, you ought to stream it if you haven’t streamed it already.
In the ‘Pamoja’ studio album, Etana has a song dubbed ‘Malaika’, a song that was originally written by Adam Salim, a Tanzanian songwriter back in 1967 and later on sang by Fadhili Williams, Miriam Makeba who was able to perform the song with the legendary Harry Belafonte a couple of years ago, it was an amazing performance.
That being said, it seems it’s Etana’s time to sing in Swahili for the very first time, for the entire 5 minutes of the song and he nails it.
If you’re either Tanzanian, or a Kenyan, or a Ugandan who has certainly grown up listening to the song you’d agree about the Jamaican singer singing beautifully the rich, powerful, and timeless song that has been with us way before most of us were born.

Etana has already released the official music video for her rendition of the Swahili hit song ‘Malaika’ and it’s something you can’t afford to miss.
The Swahili language is gradually becoming accepted outside of the Africa continent, with some other African countries slowly starting to embrace the language.
For instance, South African politician Julius Malema –who is on record about his idea of uniting all of Africa– has been pushing for the entire African continent to embrace Swahili as the language of communication since it’s the most spoken language in African and Etana deciding to jump on a legendary Swahili song makes the efforts so beautiful to watch.
Watching and/or listening to Etana singing in Swahili in an entire track is something that cannot be explained, especially for Africans who understands the language, it goes deeper than anyone’s comprehension.
