Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has issued a new warning to Members of Parliament following the recent dissolution of the cabinet.
The veteran entertainer, who has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for over 17 years, has become a key initiator of anti-government protests aimed at combating corruption and supporting impoverished Kenyans.
Omondi’s activism is driven by a deep sense of gratitude towards the Kenyan people who have supported his comedy career.
He believes the best way to repay that support is by standing up against corrupt leaders and advocating for the rights of ordinary citizens.
The recent protests against the controversial finance bill have shown promising results, with many crediting the movement’s success to Omondi’s influence.
Although Eric Omondi was notably absent from the latest demonstrations, he was ably represented by Gen Z activists, who he had inspired to continue the fight. His absence was due to the tragic loss of his brother, Fred Omondi, in a road accident.
Despite the success of the demonstrations, Eric Omondi is far from finished with his campaign against the government.
In a recent interview, he confirmed his commitment to holding MPs accountable, particularly those who voted in favor of the finance bill.
“I want to promise you, every member of parliament who voted ‘yes,’ we have their pictures, we have their names, we have their states. We are going to distribute their names. We will sing them as the national anthem,” Omondi declared, vowing to remind Kenyans of these MPs’ actions and ensure they are not re-elected following the IEBC reforms.
“Those who voted yes will not make it to 2027, we will recall them all. First, those who apologized are the ones we will start with,” he continued.
Eric Omondi’s bold promise underscores his determination to see through the changes he advocates for, using his platform and influence to mobilize and educate voters about their leaders’ actions.
As the country looks ahead to future elections, Omondi’s activism is set to play a significant role in shaping the political landscape.
