Rap legend Eminem has announced that his highly anticipated new album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace)’, will drop on July 12, 2024.

Alongside the announcement, he released a new single, ‘Tobey’, featuring fellow Detroit artists Big Sean and Babytron.

The single’s cover art is a nod to the Spider-Man franchise, with Eminem referencing Tobey Maguire, the actor who played the web-slinging superhero in the original Sam Raimi trilogy.

The track itself is a lyrical onslaught, with Eminem addressing recent criticisms and boldly asserting his place among the top five rappers in the game.

Eminem has been teasing the album since April, including a trailer release during the NFL Draft and a provocative video announcing the first single, ‘Houdini’, which debuted strongly on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The magician David Blaine was even enlisted for a promotional video for the single.

Fans were eagerly anticipating the release of ‘Tobey’, expecting it to drop at midnight, but it was officially released 12 hours later.

The track’s lyrics touch on Eminem’s response to recent criticism, including remarks made by Melle Mel of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 last year.

In ‘Tobey’, Eminem delivers scathing bars, addressing his place in the hip-hop industry and his enduring legacy. The song is a testament to his skill and dominance in the genre, cementing his status as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Little is known about ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ except that Dr. Dre is likely involved in its production. The album’s title suggests that this may be the final farewell to Eminem’s iconic alter ego, Slim Shady.

Fans can expect ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace)’ to be a game-changing album that will solidify Eminem’s legacy as a hip-hop icon.
