Blogger Edgar Obare was allegedly abducted by police at the Kiambu Law Courts where he had gone for the mentioning of his case.
Obare was slapped with a lawsuit for linking Natalie Tewa to Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, whom he said she accompanied to Dubai while visiting ailing ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Joho had travelled with MP Junet Mohamed to Dubai aboard a chartered private jet at the height of covid-19 lockdown when international travels to and from Kenya was still halted.
Obare’s friend Xtian Dela was the one who broke news that the blogger had been arrested at Kiambu Law Courts.
“Obare arrested at Kiambu Law Court as he was attending a mention of his case against Natalie Tewa. His phone confiscated and whereabouts unknown. Lawyer and family don’t know where Edgar has been taken. The police have refused to say why they have arrested him and where he has been taken,” wrote Xtian Dela.
Adding that;
“What we know so far is men identifying themselves as police officers KIDNAPPED Edgar outside the Kiambu law courts infront of his lawyer, his phone confiscated and still has not been accorded any of his rights!! His whereabouts still unknown, DCI cyber crime unit have denied their involvement, the complainant of today’s case was never seen in court!!! No surprise there.”
Later on, Edgar Obare took to his Instagram account posted photos showing the injuries he sustained after the alleged abduction.
“When I got home, I took pictures of my injuries, and this is how I was tied up. They confiscated everything I had on me, let the authorities stop denying they did this to me and protecting each other. The state kidnapped me and threw me in the bush. I demand justice #endpolicebrutality 😖ðŸ˜,” wrote Edgar Obare.
