Drake’s new album Scorpion pulls in over 1 billion streams in its first week

In a record-breaking first week, over 1 billion people globally streamed Drakes Fifth album Scorpion.

This was confirmed by Drakes recoding label Republic Records.

Another record was also broken when the album broke the US streaming record with 745.92 million streams in its first week according to Billboard.

Post Malone’s Beerbong and Bentleys which put up 431 million streams in its first week earlier this year was also beaten by Drakes Scorpion.

“New era. New platinum. Thank you a billion times over (a billion plus). 🦂” Drake posted as the caption on his post

Scorpion also toppled single-day records on Spotify Apple music and Amazon Music while bringing in over 300 million streams in its first 24 hours.

732 000 copies of Scorpion were also sold in the US which saw it take the spot for the largest debut album in 2018.

This latest milestone means that Drake owns four of the top 10 streaming weeks ever for an album according to Billboard.

On top of that, 8 records off the ‘Scorpion’ album debuted at Billboard Hot 100. The tracks are;
1. Nice For What
2. Nonstop
3. I Like It
4. God’s Plan
5. In My Feelings
6. I’m Upset
7. Emotionless
8. Don’t Matter To Me Feat Michael Jackson
