If there’s something that Dj Pinye has proven to have an eye for is spotting talent and Octopizzo, and the teenager Leyla who stole the hearts of many Kenyans is the living prove of how Dj Pinye has a keen eye spotting superstars.
Dj Pinye has two other protégés graduated from his Dreams 2 Beats initiative which the duo called Vijana Barubaru won the 2018’s version and they have released a new record dubbed ‘Good Vibes’ that brings that unique sound in the music market.

Vijana Barubaru which is the newest boy band in Kenya from Mathare slums- Nairobi, made up of Spikes Mshairi, a rapper with a great influence of poetry and Steven Juma who is a vocalist and somewhat looks like South African rapper, Zingah LOTJ.
Unlike most new and young musical groups/artistes that resort to writing trendy feel good music in order to easily break the market, they chose something deeper and different – they write about life. The inspiration behind their catchy and touchy lyrics comes from the tough ghetto environment they grew up in, with some of their peers never getting to see adulthood due to extreme poverty, insecurity, joblessness which in turn leads many young people into crime, drugs and inappropriate sexual behavior.
The group was formed two years ago but the members have always been close friends since childhood. Their genre of music is Afro pop with an influence of rap and poetry.
They believe in using their African heritage and style of music to inspire and develop their artistry and their new single dubbed ‘Good Vibes’ has just made a statement in the music industry as a group to watch out for and having the entire Mathare slums rallying for them is a morale boaster for them so there’s no way they will not dominate the music industry in a short time because they are not short of talent in any way as they are as talented as they come.
