We didn’t know that the music industry in South Africa was waiting for DJ Maphorisa to finally decide to pick up a microphone and rap, all we’ve known him for years has been as record producers and his impressive adlibs, we didn’t know we needed his rapping skills that he’s been shelving all these years without any of us knowing all about it.
When he rapped on the ‘ Izolo’ hit record together with Tyler ICU featuring Madumane, Mpura, Daliwonga and Visca, he proved without any reasonable doubt that he’s good at everything he touches and wants to do.
All the while, DJ Maphorisa has been dominating the Amapiano scene together with Kanze De Smalls hiding his rap talent for years allowing fans, critics even haters to think that he’s only a renowned record producer and Amapiano maestro.
We fell for it, DJ Maphorisa is way more than that, he’s great at what he does in the music industry and not only in South Africa, everywhere else around the globe since his name is somewhat synonymous with Amapiano music everywhere.
DJ Maphorisa proved he is a bonafide music powerhouse by gracing the microphone and rapping after so many years without rapping because he’s always been behind the scenes producing hit records like Kwesta’s ‘Ngud’, and for that, we will always be proud of him because right after the success of ‘Ngud’, Kwesta was a made man in the hip hop scene not only here in South Africa but the entire Africa continent.
It’s only a matter of time before his name becomes synonymous with hip hop as well now that he’s proven without any reasonable doubt that he’s a rapper despite him not completely accepting that he’s a rapper.
If you have had some doubt about DJ Maphorisa’s rapping skills, clearly you haven’t streamed and/or listen to his ‘Gotcha Freestyle’ together with Mellow, Sleazy that features Madumane.
DJ Maphorisa has everything it takes to be one of the best rappers in the game today, at this moment, there’s nobody who can even dispute that as a fact, even AKA cosigned his rapping skills the other day which is something that you cannot take lightly since the Supa Mega usually almost always talks about what he means and what he considers to be his truth despite what other people might say at the end of the day.
DJ Maphorisa has once and for all proved that he’s a music god based in Africa in our very own land of opportunities right here in Mzansi.
Maphorisa deserves all the accolades for not only having a say in Amapiano but also in the hip hop genre, he deserves his flowers so that he can smell them while he’s here with us.
All hail music King DJ Maphorisa!
