Felix Orinda, popularly known as DJ Evolve was left paralyzed and unable to speak after being shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
After an eight-hour surgery on March 6, 2023, DJ Evolve’s life took a turn for the better as he regained his voice.
Speaking on Thursday, he said that he never thought that the day would come in his adult life when he would be so excited to hear himself speak.
“I had to cancel my long-awaited return to the life of a deejay and try several mixes because the surgery was the day before. However, after eight hours I was able to hear my voice,” Evolve said.
After the surgery, Evolve said he spent two days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to recover for two days and was transferred to the general ward for a week.
He revealed that the first words he uttered were his name.
“I was very surprised when I spoke my first words because I was in doubt. My first words were my name. Actually after the surgery the doctor came and asked me what my name was and I wasn’t even sure if I could speak,” Evolve said.
“I have never been this excited before. It’s good to be normal. It’s better than before I could only communicate by messaging via Whatsapp and messages. But I know I can call my people and talk. Life is good,” he added.
However, Evolve explained that even after surgery he still faces challenges as he can’t go back to the ‘factory setting’ the way he did things.
He said that just like a baby he had to relearn how to eat, chew, breathe, and talk.
