Wasafi TV has been slapped with a punitive six-month ban by Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
TCRA says Wasafi TV violated broadcasting regulations during the Tumewasha Festival by airing Gigy Money’s near-naked performance.
The controversial singer performed at Tumewasha Festival in Dodoma in a sheer bodysuit that gave revelers an unparalleled view of her body.
TCRA’s acting director Johannes Kalungule said Wasafi TV’s coverage of Gigy Money’s January 1st performance was against the communication and broadcasting regulations and therefore required to stop broadcasting with immediate effect and issue a public apology.

Meanwhile Tanzania’s music regulatory body – BASATA has also banned Gigy Money from performing inside and out of Tanzania for six months. And fined her Tsh 1 million/Ksh 47, 184.
